The essence of imagination. . .

slowly took over
not slithering like a snake,
but still,
that wormlike feeling
of being invaded

by a power greater

not of a lightning bolt,

nor like a flash

but a slow, insidious movement

looking for some fertile spot
in which to curl,

or perhaps it was more
like a whirligig of a seed
being thrown by the winds of time
onto that same spot of
fertile

burrowing in,
nature’s own movement
to promote life

if not love

corporeal thoughts, indeed,

ready to establish
a root,
lacking water,
still insistent, as life is,
to begin

a tear drop is sometimes
all that is required
to feed life
to a seed
in need

imagination’s tears
begin to shed
light

by its pure essence

slowly the seed
pushes down the root,
while tendrils curl upward
toward light

slowly the imagination of essence
was fulfilled by that
invasion of life

uncurled and unfurled,
a moment of beauty
born from

the essence of imagination….
