"This is my house," he shouts. "THIS is MY house!!" "Do you hear what I say?" "Here, what I say goes. I work hard all day, HERE you do what I want, here in MY house ... we do it MY way." But what the hell does that really mean? (and one would think) ... in "your house" you could be heard ... without having to scream? What is a house after all? A roof, four walls, dressed up-- in paint, brick, or stone. Some place that you can call your own? A place where you can sit upon your throne? (This place) where you will end up alone? When does house and prison become one in the same? When you paint the walls with anger, when you hang heavy drapes of shame. But go ahead ... shout your name ... place the blame ... stake your claim. Guard it like a dog with a bone, maybe its all you've ever known, not all the mistakes are yours alone. But in your one sided demand of atone, you cant see ... this caged bird has flown. Yes ... it is indeed "your" house ... but it wont ever ... be a home. Janet Marie *written for a friend* Did you make it to the Milky Way, see the lights faded that heaven is overrated Did you fall for a shooting star One without a permanent scar [This message has been edited by Janet Marie (edited 05-14-2001).] |

"When does house and prison become one in the same? When you paint the walls with anger, when you hang heavy drapes of shame." Powerful, powerful emotions simply rip through this verse JM ... an amazing capture of a life too often lived by many. A very intense read from you today ... such a compelling read, very well done. I hope your friend will benefit from your thoughts, excellent writing indeed Janet Marie! Best wishes, /Kit |

This spoke to me on so many levels. This was MY poem just before my divorce. Possessions - like a house, mean so little when there is no emotion left to make it a home. Wonderfully done JM. Thank you. |

JM, For so many a house is never a home.....this leaves me speechless and somewhat sad that people can treat each other with no respect....with no love....just the sense of some kind of evil power that has no right to bare....nicely done my friend....Peace and hugs to you.... Good, good, good. Though I never experienced it myself, I've close friends who have and it is not a pleasant sight when a home has no heart. Titia |

Janet, where does that all consuming love go? All you "in love" people out there, try to remember this wonderful feeling may leave or change. Will you be ready to have these words bounce off the walls of a house that used to be a home? You said it well, dear girl, and I hope things get better for that friend. Hugs, ME |

I wish this wasn't such an accurate depiction of so many lives... No matter how sturdy the house's foundation, when enough dreams are broken, the home shatters and nothing is left but the shouting. Very powerful write, JM... |

thank you all for your kind words and encouragement... I grew up in a house like this... for those who relate to this I sympathize, when control and possessivess override respect and patience a house can seem like a prison. Thank you always for the constant support of my work that you all share with me. love to poetry land. jm Did you make it to the Milky Way, |

JM, You have pulled the rope of bells of sorrow And and in them rings the sounds of tomorrow. The message caused poor Randy to cry And surely brought a tear to my eye. Please fly to me my tinker bell And I will make you happy and well. Love Stinky |
