Mom's Are Like That ... Yeah, They Are
~*Marge Tindal*~

From the moment we come into this world,
we are given into the loving care of our mothers.
They love, they give, they forgive.
They lead us, they hold us, they scold us.
They pull us, they push us, they lift us to new heights.
They nurture, they nurse our needs, they kiss boo-boos away.
They guide us and then gently they release our hand to stand alone.
They follow with their hearts no matter where we go.
They smile when we succeed and cry with us when we do not.
They are always there.

~*~

They get older as we get bolder.
They prepare us to meet the world.
They retreat to watch us with pride.
They return when we need them most.
They support us when others give up on us
or when we give up on ourselves.

~*~

They get older, the older we get.
They now need us to care for them as they cared for us.
They were once the parent, now they've become the child.
We love her, we hold her, we fill her heart with our love.
She can no longer wipe our tears away.
She laughs, she cries and then she says goodbye.

~*~

And in her leaving she teaches us again.
Fear not the tears that fall for they dilute your sorrow.
And she smiles in knowing that we have learned our lesson.

Dear Marge ... such a beautiful journey through life with a Mother's love to guide, protect and teach. Always they remain in our hearts from the first day to the last, and beyond. Beautiful writing!

Best wishes,
/Kit

I love the sanctity of the cicle of life our growth, our turn to parent and gave for those who shaped and molded us to the fine people we are today.

Marge, so many wonderful thoughts in this poem of your mother.  It can be true of so many.  I sometimes wonder who may have to become "my mother" as the years go by.  Lovely, lovely.  Hugs , ME

Kit~
Yes ... 'and beyond'
Thank you, sweetie.

Cerenity~
I originally penned this for a dear friend
who was having a difficult time releasing his mother to the spirits~
She is now at peace and he is too.

Julian~
In the circle of life -
we may all become the 'child' again ...
Today at the nursing home I hugged some whose children have forgotten them ...
How sad that was.

LatinPassion~
It is a wonderful pattern - the circle -
I am glad you enjoyed it.

MotherEarth~
Those who we've loved will tend the need nicely, I'm sure.
*Hugs*

Tiersdin~
I hadn't thought of it as an 'art' ...
but yes, I believe it must be.
Thank you.

Marge, this is soooooo touching...*tears* I wish I could tell her now how much I loved and appreciated her...I wish I had said it and showed it more while I was still able to. But despite everything, I know that she knew...'cause Mom's are like that, aren't they?

Marge the poem is wonderful, but I'm sorry to say not all "Mom's Are Like That"!

I will say my mother-in-law was one of those
loving mothers.

Balladeer~
Awwww !
And I would have packed SPAM sandwiches in your lunch box, written poems on your napkins and drawn funny faces on your bananas !
AND tucked you in  each night with a *hug* and a bedtime story.

God those were wonderful days !

INot2B~
Yes, I'm sure that is true.
But we draw from our experience ...
and I've experienced deep motherly love.

Joyce~
And from beyond -
they continue to teach by the memories they leave us.

*Thank you ALL for the warm, wonderful responses to this piece.
