I wrote this for my mom last year. Last summer though her cancer was diagnosed as terminal, and she passed away in October. This is for her and all the other mothers out there who everyday help add light to their children's lives.

When the dark winds howl and moan
And the rain pounds down hard and cold
Never need there be fear of life alone
Not while burning life’s spark, bold

Timeless, ageless, rock of storm
Wisdom, knowledge, spreading grace
Shoo away the gray and forlorn
Warmth to fill both time and space

Simple verse of son’s devotion
To a strong heart I hold so dear
You whose tremorless hand did motion
Unsteady feet down many a year

Upon this day my thanks grow bold
To a woman who gives untold
And someday these words I withhold
“Mom, I love you, And I’ll do as I’m told”

"There's nowhere to set my aim
So I'm everywhere" - Dream Theater

For someone who professes to write only prose you're a darn good poet!!! This one made me cry. I loved it Abe.

This is such a loving memorial to share.
So very pleased for you that she got to see it.

This is such a warm and loving tribute to your mother and to your love for her. I hope you post it every Mother's Day. I felt your loss but also the richness of family love.

A truly beautiful and wonderfully written tribute to a special woman...I very much so wish that I would have gotten the chance to know her better before her passing...exellent writing my love.
