Catch a Falling Star - Tribute to Perry Como The star on the dressing room May soon be faded away But the velvet voice that sang to us Is always here to stay Perry, Mr. Como We listened to his gentle voice When rock 'n' roll came along He was still our first choice He sang about a falling star That never would fade away His voice will linger just as long, Mr. Como died today. |

Yes, I can now hear his voice singing "his song." How many records of his did you have? I have one. So slowly we're losing the "greats." LP For those who believed in me -May God keep you. There is no fear in love..For perfect love casth out all fear. |

He will be greatly missed by all of his many fans, the whole world over. He has left behind so much and has touched many lives with his music. There is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar. |

PoetdeVine~ Thank you for this poetic tribute. I posted a musical tribute in Announcements and Links. I have an extensive collection of Perry's music. He was a warm, wonderful man that I had the privilege of meeting on several ocassions. A true gentleman with a love for the romance of music. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Yes, He will be missed. They are all leaving us, the great stars and I can't relate to many of the current singers. Joyce |

Oh man...I haven't had any t.v. or radio on today...your poem just informed me. My family used to sit together enjoying his television show...Mom simply loved him and that smooth voice of his. How sad. Mike |

From memories..."For love may come and tap you on the shoulder...some star lit nite." The music, the sound, the words, his voice, all outstanding...James |

Oh, I was unaware of his death, thank you for this lovely poem. Perry Como was one of my favorites. His singing was effortless and so warm that you felt he was right there with you. How sad to loose such a wonderful man Liz |

Remembering the hours as a child listening to him sing. Oh and never did we miss a Perry Como Christmas Special. For years he sang like an angel, now he's singing with the angels. Thank you for such a nice way of letting us know. |

A beautiful tribute to a very beautiful man. My favorite was "Ave Maria". I don't believe there will ever be anyone that can sing it like he did. |

And I love you so... (And I always will) As soon as I saw the title of your poem yesterday morning, tears started falling... for I was afraid it would tell me what I didn't want to hear... You've written a fine tribute to a wonderful man, PDV. I never had the privilege of meeting him as Marge did... but I can vouch for him being pure gold. I sent him a birthday card last year... even though I felt a bit foolish doing so and was afraid he'd think I was some over-aged groupie. *S* All hell broke loose in my world about then and I moved to another state. So you can imagine my surprise when I went to the mail box one day and found an envelope from Jupiter, FL... thanking me for remembering him and enclosing an autographed picture. Mr. C... you will never be forgotten. |
