I’m normal
They’d have me believe,
A number in the engine,
A number on the street.

Airwaves chaotic,
The papers mime the glee,
All tends to follow
An invisible plea.

Scary word unnoted,
Training begins,
With first breathe of purpose,
Unheralded need.

Join one with masses,
Walk in the lee,
Usually the reason
For living one’s creed.

Never remembered
Genius does defy.
All attempts to mark it
With another man’s dye.

Hymn of imagination
Power to fly,
Shard of our godhood
Imprisoned by pride.

The incredible urgency
To unleash from within,
The tempest of creation
That is lost to the meek...

So when asked
Are you normal?
I reply with a smile,
Madness, my anthem,
Insanity, my cry.
