I plan to go visit my Mother
I haven't seen her since May 1998
After saying goodbye with sister and brother
I left her laying beside my father, her mate

She left us during a terrible storm
Trees down, electric gone, wind shrieking
But she was quiet as she was re-born
This woman, my Mom, just leaving

I've talked to her often to let her know
I still need to ask for her advice
She now is never too busy to show
Me how with her words so wise

I keep telling her I plan to visit
To just check to see if all is well
I can take the time to just sit
To this place she and so many dwell

I have to go visit my Mother
I can't put it off any more
I wonder if her spirit does hover
Or if she has gone through that door

She didn't know who I was any more
Or why I came to visit from time to time
She always was happy thats for sure
For the small things her eyes would shine

I have always done the things I should
And go to her grave is what I must do
I know I would put it off if I could
Well maybe next year after courage grew

I know, Mother, I need to visit just because
To see the earthly home where you dwell
I just wish I could have one last hug
But I know it's no longer you but a shell

Dear Mother you know how much I miss you
I will come to visit your earthly home
You will look down on me and as you do
Know my tears are for me but I am not alone
               I love you, Mom

MotherEarth~
I knew from the title that this one would bring me to tears ...
and it did.

I, too, must make that visit ...
as I do every Mother's Day ...
in sweet remembrance and honor.

Bless you ...
*Hugs*

A warm and heartfelt poem from a very loving heart I see.  You pulled a few tears from me on this one, and that is hard to do actually.  Lovely job.

Marge, I have never been back and decided THIS has to be the year.

JBaker515, thank you. I just wish I had shown more love while she was still here.

JLR, thanks for the reply

Mysteria, sorry about the tears, but for me they are the healing kind.

Thank you all for the kind words

This is an excellent portrayal of why some women are so very strong...

some are graced with magnificent mothers.

Janet, I hope I can do this!  If not over the week-end then next week!!

Lady In White, I wish I could be a mother like this.  I won't give up trying.
