There's excitement in my yard today,
I can't quite make it out.
You'd think someone would tell me
What the gossip's all about.

There's  an eagle in my tallest tree,
There are swans across the street.
And someone in my garden
Is singing mighty sweet.

A flock of redwinged blackbirds,
Is heading for the feeder.
But now they've changed direction and
Are flocking to the cedar.

They are flitting round and chattering,
And talking to each other.
They won't let me hear a single thing,
It's really quite a bother.

The eagle is ignoring them,
He's looking far away;
And my goodness, there's a robin,
Do you think he's here to stay?

Do you think that is the answer,
That spring is on her way?
The weather is the subject,
Of all they have to say?

I hope they get it settled soon,
They're such a noisy bunch,
And Kitty's wanting out the door,
To catch one for her lunch.

I've a mind to let hor out now,
They've been so very rude.
But of course I won't she'll have to eat,
Her boring old cat food.

But I think I'll slip outside myself,
And listen to their twatter,
To see if they will let me in,
On this important matter.

This is a talented piece, a wonderful story you told us!  Thank you.

And every one of them roosted over my car last night. (mournful sigh)

Great job, Joyce... I thoroughly enjoyed the poem (now the "gifts" on my car... bleck! *G*)

You opened a window of delight with this wonderfully boisterous stage of back yard friends. I can hear them now
