Shiver
By: Noah Eaton
5/3/01

Poor innocent children alone and helpless on the city streets
Love and dreams shattered like the broken glass in the city alleys
Hundreds of thousands of sad mothers crying like the train whistles
Having slipped away from their hands at despair’s depot, weeping if they will ever see them again

Sleeping alone in the dumpsters and trash cans at dark
No sheets to warm their fragile hearts, no food to feed their growing bodies, life shouldn’t be this hard
Selfish greedy people have no heart at all in saving these empty youth when they come around
Dying slowly everyday, betrayed and corrupted of their love which brings them joy-bound

So many cold tears falling from innocent eyes, so little blessings offered
Shaky legs struggling to move on any further, crying for someone to care for them and kiss away their tears
Someone to keep them warm during the cold biting winter, freezing and coughing without hope
Innocent young imaginations caving in with neglect, do you dare to believe they can cope?

Can’t you see the sadness in their eyes?
Can’t you see that they all need someone?
Can’t you see their hearts shiver?
They all must have someone to guide them, someone to love

Please, save the children, and help unfold a happy ending in their tragedies
They need our help, this is our last chance to help them with their needs
Give all your love to these homeless children, before it is too late
This horrifying hoodlum of love has got to stop, save the children today

They’re screaming for a prayer
Can’t you hear them cry?
Can’t you see their hearts shiver for an answer?
Can’t you hear them cry?

Save the children….

Noah, you have opened a door most of us would rather have kept closed.  We hear what we want to hear, we see what we want to see, we hide from what we don't understand.  Anyone who has been down that road knows all of the feelings as you have written. If each of us helped just a tiny bit, think of all the good that could be done.  Stop asking and start doing, right?  Thank you for the much needed shove.  ME

I agree...and yet this situation would not happen if people sincerely cared and had compassion...yet those that do will pick up the slack for those that care not...this very moment some are pushing them away and some are reaching out to help...James
