Some wonderful news was waiting
As I checked my mail today
It was something that would bring me some tears
But would also brighten up my day

I was told that a poem I had entered
One that was very dear to me
Would be published in a book
For all the world to see

First it took a while for me to realise
It took a while for me to see
I had to read the letter more than once
To realise that they were definitely talking about me

Much joy did this news bring me
But then from happiness I was somewhat sad
There was someone who couldn't share my joy with me
That someone was my Dad

As I only started writing
Just three short months ago
And you've been gone for two years
So you would never know

How I wish that you could see
All the poems that I've put in ink
And just hope that you'd be proud of me
When my name goes into print

Oh Sue....you got me with this one. HUGS...and I guess the hurt is never going to go away. I'm so sorry, and only wish I could comfort you as you have comforted me. Have been meaning to e mail you, but I've been a little nutty lately. So I'll just tell ya now, as I think I'm gonna go to sleep. But the mass in my Dad's lung turned out to be some sort of infection which drained from the bronchial tubes, which is where the cancer is actually located. He began radiation treatment this week, as the doctors believe that it is contained and can be "shrunk" using less strenuous methods. So we are calling this good news.   I think about you daily, and have read your beautiful e mail over and over. Thank you for caring...and tonight I light an extra candle for you and your father. HUGS.

And I cry to the alleyway
Confess all to the rain
But I lie straight to the mirror
The one I've broken to match my face
