Seems to me
it was only moments ago
not so very far away
in our distant closeness
that I chanced to meet
my destiny,
my past lives coming in a life
reborn,
my tomorrows to be realized

all in your smile

days melted into weeks
metamorphosed into months
which carried on a little further
and
why a particular date
comes to mind,
I don't know

but I think
it is when
I first asked

How you were doing

and for the first time
in our casual acquaintance
you did more than just nod
or smile

you talked with your heart

for I had seen through
the marginal ways
of you

you heard the sincere
in my voice
and suddenly, the side of
you that normally remains
hidden
suddenly felt safe

you unloaded a few burdens

and then you thought

"why did I do that,"

but it felt good.

And you questioned it no longer.

Inexplicably
we were soon talking
not as friends
not as lovers
but as soul-mates,
laughing and enjoining
ourselves

always looking to say
more
with less

just to hear the
breathing of our conversations
is more than
comfortable for our ears
as this coming together
warms our hearts
fills our needs

our minds meet
so our words don't have to

all that awaits us
is our destiny

I live in your heart...
You live in mine

I know this.

It is your gift to me.

It is more than enough.

"...seen through the marginal ways of you..." Becoming close takes work....and patience. I like this.  Bob

Some very nice lines in this piece. That guy probably feels the same way, evidently, and I think you two make a good couple. Good luck.

your poem speaks so much to me. For I miss my soul mate. Not being able to talk to him. So much compassion in your poem. LP

Lady--To feel a connection like this...goes beyond time and words...to another place.  It is a very special feeling as I see in this lovely poem.

This is a very special poem - I've no doubt - none whatsoever - he feels the same way = if he doesn't - he's nuts

I must concur with Mr. Yeats Lady, wise man that he is. . .

This kind of a connection doesn't happen every day. . . don't lose it. . .

wonderful poem!!!

I think everyone looks for a soulmate like this..two minds so completely in sync that words are not even necessary...this is a wonderful description. If you have found yours, I congratulate you, lady...and him.

LIL: How I wish I could convey the poem that I just read. For it speaks alot of my hold deep within my heart for my soulmate. We've had up ups and downs, but by destiny's chance - somehow as you summarized so beautifully
"you heard the sincere
in my voice and suddenly, the side of
you that normally remains
hidden
suddenly felt safe"
Your words conveyed what I feel.

Once I believed in the idea of a "soulmate" but what does a soul do when they lose theirs?
