In the space between moments

0 posted 2001-04-13 11:53 PM

Rain splattered pavement
Glints soft in the lamplight
Dappling quietly from overhead
While the night breathes the fragrance
Of sultry, steaming summer rain
Upon these sleeping streets.

Puddles ringed in oily rainbows
Splash beneath my feet
Sending liquid silver sprays
Exploding upward
Toward the sable sky....
I cast my eyes to Heaven
~Watching intently~
As the raindrops melt
Into beads of starlight.

Mud sprayed guitar case
Slung upon my back
Reminds me of the reasons
I ignore the thunderheads
And my water logged soul
~To trudge forward~
And draw illusive dreams
To my hungry spirit.

The rhythm of the tempest
Pounds upon my shivered skin,
Blending intimately
With melody woven from
My very essence...
And the rain splattered pavement
Brings me comfort
Because I choose this journey
~This lustrous reverie~
For me...and only me.

Alwye,

This is the first of your work I've read.  This is very lovely, wonderful imagery.  Thank you for sharing this nice piece.

Krista the wandering musician sounds right to me. Another excellent piece of writing, enjoyed your telling of the rain and the persona of the narrator..

Loved the last stanza especially.. Lately I've been acquiring this idea from reading that the whole world is one great song with everything adding their part.

Enjoyed this one, my dear, definetly fits the weather around here, LOL

This poem was wonderful!  I found it on like page 6.  It deserves to be on page 1 again.

Wonderfully picturesque Krista!  Incredible imagery you've penned here, I almost felt myself walking through this with you, and yet ... you've captured the feeling so perfectly of how we choose and walk these journeys for "ourselves" ... I love how you wove these sentiments into this lovely piece ... beautiful writing!

Best wishes,
/Kit
