Grizzly on the Yellowstone

Holy men say fog is spirit.
Warriors, but a blanket remnant
Torn by rock, or branch or clawing
When the valley sang with hunting.

Tourists find the morning pretty.
With fishing boots bought in the city
They step into a past that's swirling,
Heedless that the fog is lifting.

that we can hope to instill in our children
one is roots ...
the other ... wings.

My, but these are great lines, Bob.
Many people probably don't see the true Jellystone, but it would be hard to miss the spirit as it enters, simply by breathing the air.

Grew up near there and travel back as frequently as possible. Thank you for reminding me of a paradise.

Oh, Bob, this is superb!  It has brought back to view a photo in the Sunday Oregonian this last Sunday...the "What a Shot" photo on the back of the Travel section.  Did you see it?

Of course your poem lets the reader know much more than the surface beauty of that shot...but it is almost as if you wrote it for that photo...prior to the intrusion of people in the view.
