““I Promise You”

You promised every day to me,
That it wouldn’t be this way,
I let myself believe you.
Because I couldn’t stand to hear you say,
That you don’t love me.

I stared into my heart,
Somehow just to see,
If everything was really gone,
That you felt for me.

I spent the night,
Awake in tears,
Over all the promises,
Through the years,
I love you hurt the worst.

I feel his heart against me,
And see you in his eyes,
His smile used to be yours,
Before we said goodbye.

His tiny hands are beautiful,
But your not hear to see,
The innocence will wear away,
And then where will you be,
For you son that loves you so.

You promise me you need us both,
But we sleep alone at night,
I only wish to hold you,
Could make everything all right.

I just need to see you,
And that look upon your face,
The part of you that loved me,
And has left without a trace,
And I’ll promise to let go.
