I remember the first time the thought
Struck me as I greeted you
Standing in the flower shop
We hugged, the requisite lip kiss
I couldn’t be without
Quickly followed by our close embrace
Kissing your neck, then your ear
From your shoulder some small
Delicate blossom I saw, smelled
Caught my eye, caught my imagination

When next we met
I gave them to you
Gold and Cloisonné
Replica earrings

We were in the conservatory
At Longwood Gardens
I knew you were surprised
But more importantly
It was an enchanted moment
You were never more beautiful
I’d waited until
We were at the blossom’s display
You cannot comprehend
The magic your beauty
Like an impressionist painting
Overwhelmed me from that moment on
The Monet girl in white
Pisarro, Degas
You amidst these flowers
Were all there, are all there,
Rolled into one
Now you’re more than everything to me

The first duty of love is to listen.

Only a true poet can express it so well. I admire your ability to feel and to touch us all. Only wish I could love as well.

Bill--I wonder how many romances have started in a flower shop?  I enjoyed this romance....and what a good idea, the earrings.

Ephemera - the things so transient  - like flowers = too few men realize - the permanence they achieve in a woman's heart
-
at the same time - too few women realize the
permanence they achieve in a man's heart - when they smile

Thank you
