The early spring days start before I wake now
having begun overcast with no  promise
but I rouse myself to fruit juice and cereal
while coffee brews – its pungent aroma
kicking me into gear, the vitamin and the fiber
giving the false promise they have all these years

Today an exception – as I chugged the last drops
of the first cup –sunlight splattered my face
and I smiled – in spite of myself
I found myself quoting Scarlett
laughed out loud and strode to the window
the sky blue, a hint of buds on every branch

Thank you God

The first duty of love is to listen.

Very well done bit here. You have captured as a photograph, a snap shot of time. I felt the sun splash down upon my face and chuckled because I too take vitamins and fiber for insurance.
