Virginia Salter the black of night is deepened by the whispers from the corners and the alleys in this dank piece of town tin cans roll across the pavement then a grate, echoing as running footsteps two yellow eyes appear low, near the wall turning my feet into sand as those eyes leap toward the movement that startles the moment here in the dark as the orbs disappear into midnight a flicker of motion behind is as a figment waiting for reality to bring it home. ©April 19, 2000 Please note: This is totally contrived...I do not live in a dank part of town, there is none in our town. |
