The Other Natural No ticket-taker could mistake The telling way her hard heels clicked against the concrete As she passed through the gate And disappeared beneath the stands. Nor could the tunnel's long, dark length Prevent their minds a city lurk With knowing how her light, quick step So must have pushed her wholesome shape Against her simple, cotton print. But when her silhouette emerged Into that light we call a field Precisely as a roar went up As though the hand of God had turned Some giant dial, The volume overwhelmed their words. RMW |
