The Place Where Shivers are Born

The place where shivers are born
is found inside where no one has been
It is full of things that fairly often
make goose bumps upon my skin.

It has a collection of dreams you see
they are blowing leaves in the wind
that I reached for but couldn’t grasp
needing to grow before trying again.

In the season of spring I hear it
as I nestle with the window open
and warm day turns to cool night air
because it’s then my song is spoken.

My bare feet race the hardwood floor
the trees in the yard where nests are built
and such small effort I see has dwelt
in the place where shivers are felt.

Now I see I have let them out
I had to look inside to find
in modest amounts each one so small
the warm place they had left behind.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
(ee cummings)

We all have our 'shivers' - leave it to you - to remind us - in that uniquely poetic way - you inspire us to

Martie~
You've done gone and covered me in shivers of remember.

I like that tiny special place where shivers reside.
Love n' hugs to you, sweet sis.

Ah Martie, you brought home to my mind the cool California mornings, when the fog was still inland, but the sun was just breaking through...

and shivers roamed my spine...

"needing to grow before trying again"

I think that pretty much sums it up, Martie.  Well done!  This is good work, my friend.

Beautiful writing Martie! Just simply beautiful!

"My bare feet race the hardwood floor
the trees in the yard where nests are built
and such small effort I see has dwelt
in the place where shivers are felt.

Now I see I have let them out
I had to look inside to find
in modest amounts each one so small
the warm place they had left behind."

There will never be a shiver that could kill the beautiful warmth you have inside. The places where shivers are born is right here when I read your poetry I get shivers up my spine when I think about how simple your words seem on the outside but are so deep within themeslves........great work dear flower girl!

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

I know whereof you speak, Martie, but could never have said it so wonderfully. And not that there was a thing wrong with the "other" picture, but this one allows us to "see" all your words.
