Masquerade

You shimmer and shine
Like hues in different auras
Floating like a beam of sunlight
Your work, just simply astounding

Yet again, another pathetic performance
But your consistency is mesmerizing
I for one must say I stand in awe
But please, an encore isn’t necessary

After all, I know of all the yesterdays
And of your authenticity, well at least once
Your past just a repeat execution
That grinds the filter for future

Unfortunately the curtain will have to fall
Your audience has long gone south
That is, all but one last soul
He waits for his spotlight

You see his critical review is in
And it seems your son is no fool
He watches the lights fade to black
You’ve played your last egocentric tragedy

Marina, this is an amazing piece......
and be damn those common actors that parade us in full drag, prostituting they're self image as if we don't see the mask.

This is a cool direction for you go with it.

There are those that do parade in front of the masses, and we do wonder if they're sincere or not.  After all, it's hard to do the same thing with that "consistency" and still be doubted.

But why do we doubt?  Because of our own feelings for the person that we envy?  Or is envy not the right word here?

Sorry, just some thoughts that came to me while I was reading this.  It's very well done.

An amazing read. One that's not to be missed, but replayed once more. Superb.

Good read. I think we've all known at least one person like this at one time or another.  Very well said, but I only hope the son saw enough to not repeat the performance.

James, this is a write itself at that moment of anger, sort of piece.  Thanks for the support.

PV, No, I would defitely have to say envy is not the right word here.  There are those who pretend to be someone they are not and are VERY obivious to those around them.  I apperciate your comments and the read.

Julian, thank very much for such a high compliment.

Gemini, thank you.  I have no doubt he has seen enough to last him a lifetime.

James, thank you.  I always appercaite your comments.

Waseem, thank you.

Jan, You know it girl!!!
