Still not asleep and it is one o'clock Wanting to close the door on thought The quiet, the darkness, the clock all mock Another night when thoughts will haunt Now it is past two and I want to escape To the nether land of in-between awake and sleep Relax, breath deeply, count sheep, my soul to take I'm so tired, sleep won't come, darkness I seek After three, no closer than before to sleep Maybe if I try to stay awake it will work Right now I'm much to tired to even weep All the long night time, blessed sleep does lurk Four, then five, the dawn is creeping in Get up, open the shades, wait for the sun Another night past, sleepless, day light did win All signs of a new day appear one by one Darkness comes again, I'm ready to see The comfort of the bed, the quiet of night As I ask and pray for the night to enfold me To find sleep until the morning light |

ME, Boy have I been there- not so comforting to know others suffer from insomnia too. I enjoyed reading your take on the subject of lack of sleep. Sorta like peeking in your b/r window instead of always looking out mine. Smiles, Panne |

Panne415, I have Restless Leg Syndrome and Periodic Limb Movement Syndrome. A lot of jerking and jumping of legs lots of nights. Hope restful nights for all my fellow non-sleepers. ME |

I'm sorry to hear of the problems you have, which keep you awake at night. I do miss a night's sleep occasionally too, as I have Meniere's disease and the noise gets so loud in my ears, there is no way to block it out. Too bad we can't get together on those sleepless nights! Betty Lou Hebert |

Sorry to hear of that condition. I imagine it gets pretty annoying. Geesh..as far as the staying up all night thing..I did that the other night. Sometimes I can't sleep for all the thoughts going through my mind that I want to write out. I enjoyed reading this. |

MotherEarth~ Nicely done. Me ? I love the solitude of the night, where thoughtful muses gather and sing poetry until the light of day. Those pesky little sheep could be a problem though ! *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Trillium, sounds like the RLS is easier to take. It is quiet. I will think of you as I roam. Hugs Sven, thank you, if not sleep, we can write poems. Temptress, love your mind! you do great work even if it is in the middle of the night. Marge, I confess that on good nights it is great to just sit, hear the quiet and solve lots of questions and problems. Thanks and hugs |

Vivid portrayal of your insomnia. There was a bit on the news the other morn about how to induce sleep. One of the things was to eat comfort foods, such as mashed potatoes, warm milk, or macaroni and cheese...but a caveat, make certain there's very little fat in them...so then where's the comfort come from? Oh, they said that fat, just as spicy foods, can keep one awake. |

Oh this happens to so many of us. Not too often to me but last night when the clock struck one I arose, went to my computer, read some of the words there and was back to bed and asleep in minutes. I don't need sheep. Love, Joyce |

JM, I know I have a lot of company! At the house, I can roam at night, but not in the 5th wheel. Hugs to your daughter. bslicker, thanks for the smiles, they are always welcome. VAS, I wonder who those foods are comforting. The hot milkis fine, but maybe a drop of rum? Thanks Joyce Johnson, like I said before, I used to walk outside and smoke, but I quit smoking so just sit and "jump" around. Hugs |
