Why Cats own Poets

pitty paws
pretty please
let me lay
atop of papers,
these,
and I shall give
you
so much more
than ever you
had hoped of me

your adore
is all I need
but then need
is not just what
I do
for I am the reasons
you see through
people

for cat’s eyes
gleam and
dream and
seem to
shine

over whiskered
movements
you call
mine

cats and poets
get along
one not needing
the other’s greeting
giving tender touch
to flurry fluff
often getting
good enough
to hold the attention
of one cat

who really knows
where it’s at

best reason for
poets to be
in love with cat’s
chemistry
when deep in write
of poetry,

is no matter
what the day
sun, or rain
or misty fog

you don’t walk one
like a dog.

I love my owners... very very much! LOL. And they give me the perfect excuse to be a lazy poet... it's tough to push around a pile of purring fur with a pen! LOL. Great read!

I don't have cats, but I have a chihuahua who thinks he's a cat. Lovely poem!

Karilea,

I'll be writing, seriously lost in thought and here comes Slippie.  She never asks permission first, just knows that she's always welcome, which she is.  Even so, being a cat, she demands my attention..."rub my head, scratch my neck, stroke me."  So much for concentration, huh?  I love her and I loved your poem. :-)

I miss Cali (she was a calico), and I could not write or read the paper if my life depended on it.  I swear she had ultra-sonic hearing, as no matter how I sneaked the paper in or how quiet I was, she still sat on it, or refused to let me read it.  Cats are crazy critters!  Loved this poem Sunny one!

Really enjoyed the read!  I have four cats, all very different in nature, not just color and markings.  Red, Jet, (whom are brothers)Ling-Ling and Cat Ballou.  The last two were my mother's cats.  Maybe that's why I'm such a prolific writer, like cats giving birth, they don't know when to stop unless we intervene.  I hope no one gets me 'fixed' though.

Ya better watch out with this one. The last time we had a couple of kitty poems in here a bunch of kitty kickers come out! LOL!
So..anyway..I LOVE this and I love the fact that cats are mostly independent.

Enjoyed this very much..cats certainly have their independent ways of showing you they are really boss and they know how to get your undivided attention when they want it.

This is precious, Karilea...and made me realize how very much I still miss my little guy...he loved batting my pen around whenever I set it down...he also loved laying on top of my paper to take a nap...I write very slowly...hehehe
