Extinction

As they slip forever from view,
our minds adjust the picture
to ease the guilt of what has been.

That music fading from our ears,
will be replaced by other roars,
machinery humming
to the human beat.

Meat in favor of plants
shall end tropical rains,
but madness seeks her revenge.

Rulers see no reason
to stop mighty corporations
from flushing this earth.

Only our children will pay
for our crimes.

Or sooner than that, perhaps.  We know not what we do . . .

The sad problem is that nothing really changes.... unless we can figure out how to make a buck on it. Mother nature is going to just get fed up and swat us with a meteor.

Nice write sweet poet.

I've enjoyed reading these poems, I wasn't up for a challenge, but I'm ready for a nice salad.....

And when everything has been said, you come up with more.  Very good poem.

Thank you, Krawdad.

Park, thank you two times!

Kathleen - hmmm, a surprising lack of fire for an Irish Lass, good thing there is still lettuce for that salad!

Thank you Cerenity and Joyce!

Corinne
