We swing on the backyard swing
Ghost white moon shadows
Mute, I struggle for words
Wish we were at the beach
Could I then reach
In a garden gazebo
Would the words flow?

Indigo sky, stars paled by moon
Hands touch, sitting closer
On this celestial blackboard
I want to come to grips
Rework my silent lips
Write the words I feel
Your total love to steal

Swing creaks, crickets chirp
Lawn sprinkler next yard starts
Breeze blowing mist upon us
We sit tongue-tied
Side by side
Getting wet
We've just met

Looks exchanged, eyes speak love
Yet unsure, as fingers curl
Silent sighs, my mouth is dry
Thinking: "Please don't go away"
Wishing: "I want you to stay"
Your head turns, longing eyes
So much love, my heart cries

Soaking wet I turn and kiss you
Soaking wet your lips are warm
Soaking wet the silence broken
"I've wanted you so long
my feelings are so strong"
You breathe, "I want you too"
Our steam rises, a cooking stew

Words flood, our dam is broken
All the loving all the needing
Hands caressing needing touch
Two hearts beat to crickets' chirping
Moon behind a cloud is lurking
Thus we two run helter-skelter
As the water drops do pelter
We’re back inside seeking shelter

The first duty of love is to listen.

This is so sweet and gently touching! (serenity sighs and looks yearningly at her backyard....SIGH...nevermind...) Wistfully romantic!

I guess it's all part of what a 'starched collar' kind of guy I was when I was still wet behind the ears ---

When I learned the true nature of love
life became infinitely more beautiful

Thank you
