Within the full darkness that is the night, Lights of blue, Lights of red, And yellow, Flash! Beside the road and down steep embankment, Metal rent, Metal bent, And then spent, Crash! Along the side black bag in the headlight, Final play, Silent lay, Then away, Dead! Then flat-bedded away to impoundment, Then the rain, Came again, Washed off stain, Red! All is caught with eyes between the flashing, The mind collects pictures while still moving Past the crash of late last night’s partying, Unknowingly discounts the grim doing, Being just a shadow of night passing.
