She decided it would be fine to disintegrate in measures -- the dance of conjoined molecules chemically broken from structure. She decided it would be fine to be the fly in the window, wings vibrating, crawling, centering -- to pounce from thick glass into the sky. She'd decided long ago that he would keep the windows clean, the latches sturdy, the shutters open, the view free of debris. But he'd decided it'd be fine to disintegrate, in measures. He was working on it when she came in through the screen. |
