Five Knights rode out to field Their armour shone, pristine white Standing out against the emerald green grass To sight there was nothing purer Bright blades like shards of light hung at side They road out, out on emerald field T'wards dark beast, of pain and hate Apathy and fear. The first rode towards it, unslung its blade. And the beast regarded him with one eye, "You fear," It spake. "No..." groaned Knight With fear in his heart, he swung Was blocked, and died. The second Knight rode out, The beast regarded him with one eye, "You can hurt," it spake. "No!" screamed Knight He swung and felt the pain of life He was blocked, and felled. Out Thundered third. The beast regarded him with one eye, "You hate," it spake. "No!" raged Knight He swung with blinded anger Was blocked, and destroyed. The fourth moved out The beast regarded him with one eye, "You care not," it spake. No answer. The Knight swung without care, was blocked and passed away. The final Knight rode out Clothed in Light but knew himself inside The beast regarded him, "You fear and hate and hurt," "And you knew my secret," "But cared not save fellow knights" "Yes" spake simply the Knight The Knight took his shard of light reversed it, and drove the blade deep deep into his own breast, and the beast screamed. There they died. Beasts all. Darkness all ------ Its been some time since I posted here... |

Very wonderful poem. I loved that ending, it was so anti-cliche, very refreshing. Great stuff. |
