Your voices rise, frustration and anger
flashing back and forth.
Tension builds in a closed circuit
with violent words flung from one end to the other,
faster and faster 'til I fear they'll explode.

That's when I hide.

I jam my words
back into my heart
and shut them up tight.

I don't yell for you to stop.
I don't ask you why you stay together.
I don't tell you that it hurts.

I just lock away my words.
And with all the shouting being done,
you don't even notice
my silence.

I can so painfully relate to that.  I hope that your situation doesn't stay like that.  It can be very crippling.  I'm sorry for your misfortune.  Written nicely.

The future isn't now, that was yesterday.

sometimes slience is stronger than words...

"in a past life i was a woodcarver's knife: the sharpend blade of a wood cutter, the eldest son of the chief's brother: a maker of drums"

yes, this very good. I especially loved the end. It had a bit of irony to it. great piece.
