Sex is ignorant, sex is wrong
Sex is disgusting, controlled by strong.
Sex is distasteful, sex is bad
Sex can be painful, when they're mad.
Sex is intrusive, and unclean
Sex is abnormal, and sometimes mean.
Sex is repulsive, sex is hard
Sex is appaluing, be on your guard.
Sex is an evil, sex I hate
Sex is disdainful, at any rate.
Sex is repugnant, sex is gross
Sex is offensive, to me the most.
Sex is criminal, sex is cross
Sex is unsettling, and sometimes tossed.
Sex is many things to the abused
Sex is nothing more than being used.

I love this, but is sex really all that bad??

God put us here to have sex & have babies, thats y sex is so great or else we'd have no more babies--lol--Anyway great write, much emotion, sounds like this comes from within

well...i really like it, but is it really that bad???
For my part i think sex is nuthin' but fun, if you don't hurt anybody with it...( might be a male view of it???)
Sex is nothing more than being used.
maybe you should be the one who uses the other person???

As a survivor of multiple child and adult sexual assaults, sex can be that bad. I am newly married and just ask my husband how hard it is for me. Mind you, I have another poem about sex that is totally opposite. I bounce between the two, ALL the time. Just ask my hubby.

I just found this today and I have to say it is something that I can totally relate to and what happened to me wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. Maybe I was lucky--or blessed. Anyway this is totally how I feel about sex--to me it is a bad thing, because it is what bad people do. That's just how it is to a survivor I guess. Thank you Sheri.

sex is only bad when it is done for the wrong reasons or by the wrong person. but this is a very good poem. I hope you have better luck in the future. and don't let people use you.

Sometimes you can't change what's going to happen but you can change how you percieve it.

i feel the pain and anger in this one.
the intensity perfect, for the issue being so important, being that i relate in experience i find this poem useful, in reflection and in a therapuetical way.

i feel your anger, but i totally disagree...sex is the most beautiful exchange between a man and a woman...it is the most beautiful thing life granted us, words being the second...i love the woman i am with and sex is the most beautiful exchange of our souls, two is now one...and never again will we be none...

Hey Musicmaker --

I think anybody who has been through any sexual trauma will understand where you are coming from with this. It really is such a brave thing to have written, and so raw and apt for capturing how it feels.

I have to say -- I have spent many many years trying to get over "issues" with sex. it's a long long road. My situation is not like yours, but I can completely understand your sentiment. I think it's important for me to tell you that is IS possible for sex to become beautiful. It takes a lot of persistence, patience, forgiveness, trust, etc... but it doesn't have to be the ugliness you describe above forever. That may sound impossible now, but I'm trying to give you some hope.

I found this today, and I just want to say that I know this feeling completely and totally thoroughly. And the only way to get over it is to forgive your oppressor. THAT is how sex becomes the wonderful definition it truly is when seen through unblinded eyes. I know because I, too, am a survivor. Otherwise, I would feel no right at all to even respond. I know it seems utterly impossible to forgive the scars, but nothing worth while ever comes easily. Show strength, and lean on your new hubby when you have to.
