Sleeping you pleased me.
The proven child
With closed eyes,
I saw most by night-
And they were rare.
A dark psalm.

Closed I could right you
Safer that way-
While wide so beautiful
Like lightening,
To a beast, fearful
And unreachable.

No voices to split you
No river noise-white.
Only my knowing instance
With no air for sighs
Oh my un-sharing sight,
That immaculate ache!

Not to dare-
Not to take,
Sever my heart-
Don't wake.
