Concerning the Incident That Took Place November 21st 2002 During a Lecture on Mordecai Richler

What is his mantra
a mantra is for deep thought
You're an idiot

Sorry if this one was a bit confusing.  I had to get it out of my system.  It's about a massively embarrasing incident that took place on last thursday.  I was in Canadian Literature class and we were discussing "The Apprenticeship of Duddy Cravitz" by Mordecai Richler.  The professor asked what Duddy's grandfather's mantra was.  I put up my hand and said that a mantra is a repeated phrase used during meditation in certain eastern mystical circles.  The teacher was rather annoyed and said "What?" and then went on to someone else.  I was embarassed beyond repair and spent the rest of the class in utter psychological disarray.  In fact, right now as I write this I can still feel the damage of my extremely stupid act, lol.

Why are you so upset about that? You gave a good answer if he had asked "What is a mantra?" Don't know the man you referenced, or his mantra. What was the 'correct' answer.
The only ones who should be embarrassed are those who have NO answer, who are truly asleep at the wheel. Those are the ones I worry about.
