Your blue image
Has been traced within
Layers of my awareness

Merely an outline

Inscribed indelibly deep
Into the corium
Of my consciousness

An emphatic ache

The needling of pining
Pigments, pricked precisely
With dulcet dyes

And now, I fear

I shall ever bear
This faint tattoo
Of you

In reply to "which way do we go?", the answer was never "straight", but, "progressively forward".

nicely done Ed. I enjoyed the piece and the idea... good strong imagery and a progression of thought that takes the reader to a place they can draw from the poem what they personally wish to.

Passions sort of is a tattoo,
a scar
to some.

Though, I'm sure this wasn't about Passions.
It's just, the mention of blue.

I'm glad you're still writing, Ed.
Yr Pictures at an exhibition
is one of my all-time favorites.

Thanks squirrel dude. And no, didn't have passions in mind.
But, in reading this through a "stranger's" eyes, I can see that it is yet another generic metaphor for...a memory?

And yes, still writing. Just slow going.

Trying to say something (don't even know what) and writing dreck.

Maybe should have stayed awake in English.

"dulcet eyes"

that's one of those perfect phrases that will stick with me forever--sigh, now I am also tattoed by her--and I don't even KNOW her!

gawd, I'm nuts...

what a gentle heart, Ed.

This leaves quite a beautiful aftertaste, Ed. Brilliantly put together with a lasting effect. Much enjoyed.

Thank you.

Though I haven't replied to most, I have been reading you're poetry. (thought you might want to know that. )
Most of what I have read of you- I cannot relate, but this ... this is wonderful.
Each line made me feel ... up until the tattoo part. Which was a very good touch, whether it reminded me of anything or not. Heh.
(and don't think I'm ignorant or anything, I know that other people's poems may not strike home. But I like it when it does...)
But I did enjoy this very much.
Continue....

Thanks all for the read, and reply.

And for Sara, I'm flattered that you read these scribblings, but relating to it?

Don't worry about it, you will. (I have about 4 decades on you.)

Likewise, I have some trouble understanding work written outside my own reality, and like you, get what I can from it.

Ed, you would have been so bored in English anyhow.  Besides, you would have ended up teaching the class outside of class and we would have a bunch of Wranxians roaming free right now. (hit me later)

Eyes, yes beautiful eyes . . .
a bittersweet tattoo indeed

the needling of pining

but I like the twist of the blue pages
Mikey
Lord knows this will be tattooed as well.

You know you really need to look into getting an Agent, or submit your work to a publishing house, or magazines yourself. You are damn good!
