Seven of Cups: Confide choice to one day. Open hand to snake or wreath. Eight of Cups: He dropped his hand, dropped gnawed bones, dropped his weights, dropped intent, dropped old love, dropped his skin, dropped hurt stance; closed distance. Nine of Cups: "Feel me," her voice is throwing dust. "Feel me," her mouth in slow combust. "Feel me," molten need of must. "Feel me," two notes deny rust. Ten of Cups: Fulfillment is a stair traveling from there to there, and also from here to here. Rain painted light; watch it clear. Page of Cups: You there -- poet -- come sing to me. Come dream of colors new to me. Come play blue words softly to me. Come open rooms I failed to see. Show me. Let's taste the lips of poetry. Let's drink the mouths of every sea. Let's hide strength in fragility. Oh to find love's frailty. You there -- poet -- me. Knight of Cups: Head down, held out. Hold on. Queen of Cups: She stares at the magnificence of ripples; a rainy dream in trained eyes. King of Cups: A line of fire met the ocean; traced out waves of steam. |

Thank you, wranx. I think they're showing some of my best and some of my worst, which is all I could ask for, I suppose. |

how did the tarot become your theme here? I have searched abck and read the others in this series, and find you do a good job with all, of walking through the cards and possible meanings as well as the symbolism they might have. Enjoyed these Mike... |

Just need to touch base, make contact, reaffirm my whole bein' alive thing. Tell you I love you. Worship yr poetry. Y'know. *sigh* I hope my 'net's back online soon, so I can tell you about my awful Saturday night that you failed to ask questions about, even though I coulda died... *sniffsniff* your tongue's like poison |

Ron, I am a madman. That is why I am attempting this. Actually, I read a poem by wranx called In the Cards, where the tarot is used as both wisdom and seduction tool (pass the red) I then wrote an apocryphal poem, Die, your majesty, which deals with someone killing the queen of cups. Then I realized, I had no idea what the queen of cups represented. I found a tarot site, read up on her, and was horrified to see I was about to murder dreams/creativity. As atonement, I decided I'd wrap up the tarot (and fix the poem so no one would ever know its ugly beginnings). See? Madman! Lori, *kiss* I love you. I did ask you about Saturday. I miss you. Feel me. (behaviours? you're cute!) from rose to green-eyed skull? Mikhail [This message has been edited by bsquirrel (09-24-2002 12:49 PM).] |

The Queen of Cups? Is pleased....VERY pleased. (offering a sip from chalice) sip deep, but allow this nectar to entice the lips again for 'nother sip... as though your tongue grew feet and waded deep into the ocean... 1.(If I get any more mystical? someone? find my lithium!) 2.(Just kidding, folks, I'm not on meds.) POP QUIZ...which of the above statements do you find, less reasurring? Serious mike, I've been waiting for this batch....and? chuckling now...when you are done with all? I have a NEW assignment for ya! |

Ooh, now I am intrigued! And Sen, that verse you wrote up made me thirsty in many ways. The least reassuring? Embarrassed to be mystical. |

Slow comin', isn't it, Ron? Want REAAAL slow comin'? Check out my Diastonene series, on a current state of hiatus. I love whipping myself raw with projects, I suppose. |

Iambe is slow...so I understand how "projects" eveolve in their own time reality. I usually can find Iambe lingering somewhere in the shades of my thought, but she isn't always one to talk or be talked about, she's just there. I'll have to do a search...I am sure it will lead me to ven more good reading. |

I'm gonna check out your Iambe series as soon as I have some time. My mind is salivating at the thought (which has the side effect of getting spit all over my brain) Anyway... |

An interesting poem. I especially liked the way you used the extended metaphor of a card game in the creation of such vivid and poetically asthetic words. Good job. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" |
