Humans and their Games On a cold, wintery day I sat peering at a deer Instinct sensed I was there Probably to protect his freshly killed meal Or to protect its offspring The animal was beautiful With light brown fur and a speckled coat Chewing on the color changing grass That wasn't absorbed beneath the snow Suddenly, the silence ends Two shots ring out Perhaps from a skilled hunter Looking back at the animal Standing over his shallow body Laying on the ground Gasping for breathe Surrounded by his own blood Another innocent creature killed Just for the sport of the game When will the cruelty end? Not only for animals, but mankind as well |

Nice poem. Some of your spelling needs a bit of work. I don't believe the cruelty will ever end. There is no such thing as a good or saintly human. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" |

I believe hunters and and so forth pass that down to their sons and daughters...it will only end if individually they reject the training...James |

i know where youre coming from.......but there are many deaf ears out there to hunting, especailly this hunting season in the northeast time of the year, these yokels acutally think they are doing a good thing for the deer so they dont starve, what a crook......i dont eat meat, i dont wear leather, and i dont believe in rippint another humans flesh apart. well off the soapbox for now... |

I understand the sentiment of your poem but am confused about the facts. ". . . I sat peering at a deer Instinct sensed I was there Probably to protect his freshly killed meal Or to protect its offspring The animal was beautiful With light brown fur and a speckled coat . . ." How many deer? What freshly killed meal? A male deer with its offspring? The beautiful animal was a fawn? Hard to follow this. And then my heart with pleasure fills, |
