Everyone is changing and they don’t realize it, We are all growing up and moving in different directions, They can’t even see how it is all ending, The late nights, parties, mommy and daddy holding their hand, It is time to let go and they don’t even see, Maybe they just don’t care or realize what it all means, We are losing touch and gaining independence, It scares me but they just keep moving on, Not noticing how short our senior year really is, Thinking it will be this easy forever, But it won’t, not in the world we live in, I want 16 back so I can live it all again, I feel like I lost and I missed the point of it all, I wish I could do it all over again, Be a naive preteen all over again, I want the peace and the security I never knew, That everyone else is still holding on to, Because I am scared of losing something i never had, And I am terrified of lossing the one thing that i do have---myself "I'll build a wall if we can keep them on the other side"-NIN |

I could have identified with this at your age? You must be around 18, right? When I was 18 I KNEW it was all about to change and I was already wishing for the solace of being twelve or sixteen again. Remember that life is how you live it. Things will change, but you have to make the very best of it. Cherish each moment of growth because it will likely not be duplicated each time. Ahh..lol..I'm rambling. I definetely understand this one, and I think you've communicated your fears and thoughts well in this poem. Sometimes the heart needs the solace of solitude and silence. |

To be 16 again..... Am 19, and want so bad to be back in high school, with my old friends, living it up... but time travels one way only, so we'd best keep up. Excellent poetry. |

Ginners, remember, when one door closes, another opens. You may be steadily moving along to adulthood, but there will be things to compensate for the loss of parental security... You'll see... *hugs* ~Tier |

Yes, life certainly does change at that age. But it changes for the better. Some of my favorite years were late teens and early twenties. Trust me, you'll enjoy the changes If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

You have expressed yourself well in your words dear...and as my dear friend Temptress stated...life is what you make it. Do not ever forget that and strive to make it all that you wish it to be. "Your young wings with fade like tissue paper, yet, they will be replaced by wings of knowledge and splendor." I wish you much luck in your future...take it in your hand and skip with it freely!! Until...ali "There is an alter ego which dwells within every soul." (C)alibaster 1999-2001 |
