Don't Make me hate you--that would not be good
Just when our friendship is starting to strengthen
Something happens to try and break it down
Into little pieces
"Shards of friendship" would be floating around
And then
No matter how many pieces we retrieve-
It's impossible to get them all back
And parts of my heart that I gave to you
Will land on someone new
And I don't know how you handle things
But once I give someone a piece of my heart,
It is always theirs
Whether they want it or not
It's not recyclable--
Or reusable;
Not like the bottles and cans that led us here
And now, I am so confused--that "here" is the only place I know
Because "here" is constantly changing
And undefinable in terms of the heart...
You are like a brand;
Searing yourself into my life--
Into my mind
And I cannot get you off
You don't even know how hard I have tried
I am not stupid!
I realize it's so pathetic to follow a road that only leads to heartache
But right now, it's the only path I've found
I'm sure that there will be an intersection (somewhere)
I just might need someone to help me see it
Because I am so tired of thinking about you
That I have closed my eyes

Wow!!! You took the words right out of my heart. This is going into my library. I feel like this alot and I wish for you to know that you are not the only one and we are all here for you if you need us. "friends within a family" are we.

Sarah just to let ya know, I liked this one, and I know that someone will come along and sweap you off your feet, like you deserve.. be content and follow your grandma's advice, have fun with your friends now and boys later.. or somthing like that... Sarah I am always here to help make any decisions you need help on, but most of them you make on your own, and you make them very wisley.. Good poem...... Love ya
