Is it worth it,
To submit to love again?
To open myself up,
And let another in?

Should I break the wall of stone,
I’ve placed around my heart,
To protect myself from,
Love’s kiss, so tart?

Can I let another in,
Knowing the last was a lie,
Will this one endure,
Or leave me alone to cry?

I wish that I could know,
How to find ‘the one’,
That I could find one to love me,
And not make me their pawn.

Maybe one day,
I’ll belong to a true love story,
Maybe one day,
That love won’t be an artificial memory.

"Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die." - Shakespeare

It is rather ironic that I happened to find this post and start reading while something of a similar context was happening to me...  LOL

Anyhow, I really enjoyed the poem.  I think there are many out there who would like nothing more than to have your love, rather than to extort you or play mindgames with you.

"If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh"

Weird how you, me, and frac are going through this. I chose to let her in though. I don't know if it was wise or but it was worth a try.
I enjoyed this one!

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily
