Once upon a time when words were easy... |

It was all so easy then, for words didn’t have such a meaning. Snot-nose and booger face were as mean as it came. The words actually meant what they sounded like. You didn’t have to figure out the true meaning to a name. When your older innocent words are given new meanings. The old ones are there but almost never used. Simple words that were once innocent become harsh. That’s when those words became abused. Such a normal word as fagot has had this happen. It means a bundle of sticks. But today it also means a homosexual. And its usually used like that for hateful kicks. We turn too many innocent words into hateful ones. Because of that we are left with deep hurtful scares. The strange thing is that we do it anyway. So we are left with stories that are as old as the stars. Such a story could be the problem of a family’s rivalry. Decades of hate to one part of the family because of a word. The family was torn apart by hatred and stupidity. All because of some name calling that was heard. If I could turn back time I would. I want to be in my childhood just one more day. To be able to say booger face would make me smile, for some words make me angry to the point I just want to say: "I’m rubber and your glue. Whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you!!" By: Dana Samples 6-5-01 |

words hurt...not the words...but the people saying them in such a mean, nasty hurtful, hateful manner......you can make any word mean.......it's the heart of the person saying it.......hugs to you... SEA |

Wow this was so awesome. You expressed yourself greatly. I loved this so much! I loved it a lot! Great job! I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |

I like this poem and the meaning in it. I thank you for the read. I'm just glad that now this rainstorm has ended, and I can see the rainbow once again. |
