Resting in my cardboard box.

I heard a song performed at a festival last night called "Who I am."  I'm sure some of you have heard it-  apparently it's a popular song. I, on the other hand, don't listen to country so I hadn't. Anyway- the song was about who she was, obviously. And it got me wondering who *I* was, And if anyone else took the time to find out who they were.
This is something I will forever be able to add things too. It has cause for MUCH improvement...but here it is anyway.

Take a look in the mirror.
Tell me, What do you see?
Though it's taken many years to answer,
I can honestly say that I've finally seen me.

I am a teenager.
A beautiful, yet intelligent female.
I am the 1st granddaughter
The 2nd child
The 3rd oldest of cousins
And the 4th living generation of women.

I am opinionated,
yet respectful.
Honest,
but not cruel.
Proud,
though never vain.

I have friends who love me.
Family who will always care.
Enemies that still respect me.
And acquaintances from everywhere.

I am envied by some
Ignored by others
Liked by many
And adored by my mother.

I am a leader that listens
A teacher that learns.
A friend to an enemy
And a star no one knows.

So again I ask
What do you see?
Take a look in the mirror
And find the answer to the question
"What makes up me?"

Awesome poem.  I often wonder just who I am... And just who people think I am...  Jessica Andrews - "Who I am", right?  Great song.  Anyway, loved the poem, keep writing, I'll be watching for more of your stuff.

You really know how to bring out deepness in a simple way. Your use of words is beautiful.
To even write a poem about yourself, and what composes YOU is a great idea to begin with. Well done Spice, well done....and all true.....but you forgot some other stuff..oh well.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily
