Smeared mascara stain her cheeks
as the tears pour from her eyes
she knows the time has come
to say her last good-bye
6 bittersweet years she spent in this town
she smiled and laughed ,cried and frowned
made memories that will last a lifetime
letting go and leaving it all behind
it's hard to pretend she's doing fine
She fell so deeply into love
and got her heart torn to bits
she carefully put it back together
and is ready to take another hit
she made so many friends, and few enemies
in this town that brought her joy and sorrow
she knows she'll be far away tomorrow
she stares out the window as her life fades to a backdrop behind her
theres nothing left to do but wave good-bye
and turn her heart around to her new life ahead....

The world is like a mirror; frown at it, and it frowns at you.  Smile and it smiles, too
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle

I really like this... I don't know if this is what it's about, but it makes me think of a little over a year from now, when I will be going off to college and leaving behind all my friends...   But, all goodbye's are a part of growing, and they are a part of life! Well done

I also thought of leaving school for college... although I wouldn't be leaving anyone behind really.  So long as I have my computer and Net access I'm fine.
Nice work on the poem.

This made me wanna cry! Its so sad, but towards the end, I pictured a girl in a pickup truck(sorry, that'd be the redneck in me) looking out the rearview mirror at the town shes leaving behind.

Those girls on TV don't know that being
36-24-36 doesn't mean a thing unless
you got the face to back it up

What a hard situation to be in
Leaving behind all that you love
Is this a temporary leave or permanent?
hope you move on smoothly
take changes as good and not bad
thanks for sharing

Im graduating this year....oh well hehe.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily
