Ok...my first sonnet..it's a loooooove sonnet, even though it doesn't refer to anyone in particular. Sonnet #1 Upon laying eyes on you, I did think, That you were deserv'd of equal beauty. And so set I out to the worldly brink, In search of such, setting it my duty. To return with gifts of splendor, I would; Faultless locks of gold, eyes of sparkling blue, I find these all, yet still misunderstood. T'will take much more to find such beauty true! In ludicrous vain, thousands did I spend, In the exquisite things I demanded. But back with you now, I do comprehend, Why I have returned so empty-handed. O, splendor like yours I cannot pursue, For no beauty can match that seen in you. |

almost like Shakespears, "Shall I compare thee to a summers day." This is awesome.. I name my Sonnets... for example.. Sonnet II - Winter Envy... I dont know if that matters or not... this sonnet was so excuisite (spelling) and I hope you write more of these because they really do bring out your talent ~JDR "Is it love in my gut, or piss in my bladder?" -Allan Riverwood |

Wow, this was great. I really REALLY liked this one. Good job! I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. I'm in love with my shadow I admire it daily |

Yeah jeremy, i remember reading your "Winter Envy." It was good...but do most poets title sonnets? Shakespeare's sonnets are all just numbered, i believe... "By other ways, by other ferries, not here, shalt thou pass over: a lighter boat must carry thee." "I AM CANADIAN!!" |

yah, he number them, but theres no way there is a rule that says you cant title them, how would we tell them all apart?? thanks for commenting on my sonnet 80) ~JDR (this was a cheap attempt at a bump) *grin* "Is it love in my gut, or piss in my bladder?" -Allan Riverwood |

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! I envy anyone who can write sonnets as I am unable to do so myself. Each line just gives you such a warm feeling. It is a terrific piece. Bravo! ~AF~ "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." Buddha |
