Lovesick At Night By: Noah Eaton I’m half-awake in my bed, I’m beginning to fall asleep As I’m staring at my lava lamp, waiting for the bubbles to form In a wink of an eye, I begin to retire…surrendering into another dream Tumbling down the gateway into my fantasy world, where out of the day there’s so much more But nothing is the same here, all those nightmares have disengaged from my mind I’m descending into a Salvador Dolly canvas, ensanguined of rose passion Look at me, I am ensanguined of light and bliss, as I fall through a pastel sky With patches of negative space longing to be filled inbetween the creases I plunge into an oceanbed of feathers and roses, I am sinking down beneath But I am not suffocating, I am not getting soaked, and I feel fine Sweet water, a tang of berries, that somehow makes me feel good as I relieve The luscious rose perfume enfolds me into the rose itself Falling in so suddenly, I become bewildered by the change of hue and form I am lying in a diamond oyster shell, filled up with flowers, floating on a rainbow sea Immediately flattered when I begin to hear the soliloquy of an angel approach It gets closer, it gets softer, until I can feel it tickling right in my ear The ocean begins to fondle me, as I begin to hear the angel getting closer to me Crooning a lullaby of love to me; I begin to see her abscond from the pink sky At that moment, I felt that this was it, I had found my one true love Sudden burst of felicity arouses from me, as the angel lands on the edge of the shell She said she was the one, the one that I would share my heart with She tells me, “Let us enclasp together, mind, body, soul, heart, and dreams, come and melt with me in my sea!” Limpidly, I can see that she had come for me, and I come to her and she wreaths me in her wings She holds me tight as we fall into this supernatural sea We submerge together down to the ocean floor, where all the coral and the sand is stuffed with pearls And millions of colors bleed together in the water, painting all but half of everything She puts her arms around me, and says that together…our love will paint everything in our own special world Then our lips engage together, kissing, as we begin to fill in all the negative space with the color of endearment One more garden of aspens shine into immaculate golden bloom One more river gives birth to a valley of lush green forests I can’t stop kissing her, she can’t stop holding me And all within a moment, our hearts had united together Forty winks later, I ascend back into myself and return home again Buried in a state of higgledy-piggledy, I shake out of it and take a shower There is no doubt about it; I will be showered with cupids arrows someday But I’ve got to be honest, I was lovesick that night…lovesick in the longing for love… Copyright 2000 Noah Eaton 10/20/00 |

What an incredibly descriptive poem Noah. You've painted the words as surely as if I was seeing it before my eyes. Very nicely done! Best wishes, /Kit |

You have some beautiful desciptions here. We have all been lovesick at night, and it is these dreams that both sustain us and pull us farther down. Thanks for sharing. "Where there is great love there are always miracles" -Cather "Love heals everything, and love is all there is"- Zukav |
