Filling the Years The shadows move, grow long and dark with ebbing of the day. Sometimes when I sit down to write, I have nothing to say. I scribble, crumple pages up, then hope my aim is good. Twirl reading glasses in my hand. I'd write, if but I could. First stars appear through window glass, as crimson fire has set. The last year held such memories and few that I regret. But now the future's on my step and what am I to do? So many months and years to fill. With what, I have no clue. Perhaps with children I will work. Bring laughter to their days. Hold tiny hands, good lessons teach in oh so many ways. I know I will paint ocean scenes and more poems I will write. In soft starlight of the darkness I'll still drink in the night. I'm sensitive with gentle heart and want to give my best. To all of you my life will touch, I hope that you'll feel blessed. Proust- |

"The last year held such memories and none that I regret." As long as we have years like that our time will be filled. This is a good poem. Joyce |

Michael--a very introspective and hope filled poem. I think anyone who knows you would be blessed. |

Within these words and image spent of time that I now know as annual festivals herald cherry trees aglow, yet swiftly do the blossoms fall white upon the step, and I must breath deeply as I tell you this: wonderful poetry! "I am not now that which I have been." |

Betty, I'm glad you liked this. It pleases me much and I thank you, sincerely. Dee, Some friends are truly a blessing in a person's life. You are indeed a blessing in my own. You are a light that pushes back shadows and I dearly thank you for your precious friendship. I love you also, my dear and sweet friend. Proust- |
