I found it dumped outside my door
It wasn't wanted anymore
No longer whole, just broken pieces
Jumbled, dented, pressed in creases.
What was this thing before my eyes?
I could hardly recognize
The jaunty, carefree organ sent
Returned to me, rejected, rent.
Lonely hours I spent just crying
No incentive to start trying
To sort the mess and make it whole
The wounds reached my very soul.
Then a kind friend sent me a smile,
Said he'd been watching all the while.
And through the laughter we were sharing
I sensed a strong and steady caring.
We sorted pieces into rows
And though a crack or two still shows
So carefully was done the mend
My heart is at last whole again.
The creases dampened with my tears
Are softened knowing someone hears
The longings I had left unspoken.
A master craftsman took the broken
Shattered, confused bits of me
And cherished them into beauty.
Prisms of color became my reflection
When gazed upon with true affection.
He treats me as though I'm a treasure -
It seems mosaics give him pleasure.

*smiling* BIG TIME ...
and digging your anticipation rhyme ...
and those last four lines are worth their weight in gold...
or should I say glass ... as in crystal ...
Yes mosaics are lovely ...
and that metaphor and line is SO COOL and so poetically perfect..............

BUT... me thinks its more like Stained Glass ...
Tiffany ... Cathederal quality *wink* *S*
hugs Ruthie girl...
yer so lovely when your smiling and inspired

oh you speak to me in riddles
and you speak to me in rhymes
my body aches to breathe your breath
your words keep me alive

Oh my, expressed so well with clever flair! Yes, you are a treasure, and your writing is a gem! This really touched me, perhaps because I relate deeply~

Take care,

SEA: Thank you so much... to be added to your library is an immense honor! *S*

Sunshine: Why, thank you! *G*

PDV: Well... *I* like desert mosaics... but I somehow doubt I'd fit the requisition! LOL. Thank you, lovely lady... for your comments today and all the times you've lifted my spirits. *S*

Seymour: I know such a knight is rare... I'll appreciate him thoroughly!. *G* Thank you so much, sweet Sy!

jellybeans: I can always count on you to find a ditto, can't I? LOL. Of course, it would be accurate to stop at "I can always count on you." *S* For Sybil certainly gets credit for keeping me from sweeping the shards into the trash... Thank you SO much, dear friend!

Martie: Such words from a treasure such as you are greatly appreciated. *S* Thank you very much!

Janet Marie: Me thinks you may be a wee bit biased, dear lady... but I'll relish your kind words anyway. *G* Thank you so much... for the compliments, the hugs, and for the incredible pictures... They're beautiful!!

Melissa: I'm so glad it touched you. *S* Thank you very much!

The werk monster is being exceedingly unkind this week... and my attempts to strangle the sucker into submission have been unsuccessful. *G* So please forgive me for not being around much... I WILL get to the poems eventually... and I do so much appreciate your kind responses to this offering... Thank you!!!
