Are you alive?

do your eyes know beauty
does your heart know love
are you open to the wonders
that come from above
do you look at the world
to find all there that's right
or do you look for the wrongs
and live the death of blind sight?

This is very good, PoemCrazy. I enjoyed this very much. (aside from the quote at the end that had to be deleted, but that wasn't part of the poem.)

I missed the quote, but the question itself is enough to provoke profanity...at least from me! I have heard that pain and pleasure provoke the same biochemical responses, and it is only the brain that interprets the difference. Sigh...don't know how true that is? But it sure would explain alot of things.

too bad I missed the quote, am very curious. Like the poem though, fast hard, to the point and very thought provoking. I know I am guilty of finding the darkness easier on the eyes than the light, though it's hell on the body and soul.

Tom.. It's hard when one has lived in darkness most of their life, but each day is brighter when you look for the sun, instead of hiding in the closet. Great poem, thank you. Sorry I missed the quote, I need a good laugh!   Kate
