Behind the Shadow

Look at me, the shadow said,
As it extended
Across the wall of reason.
I've seen a million faces,
As the crowds
Gather to rehearse your rhyme.

Set in toned barriers,
Reluctant to stand
The irony of a dressed up syllable.
Gone is the Shakespeare,
Of a half honored
Society drowning before his eyes.

Take me as I once was,
And batter my words
With modern day English verbs.
Slanted truths beyond shadows,
Written séance
Driven carnival of words.

I've seen, I've done, I've captured,
Throws of verses
Within lucid time frames.
Send me now your echoes,
As I have burrowed
Myself, behind the shadow.

That's a great smile you have there in your picture....and to be quite honest I wouldn't have guessed just by looking at that picture that you were such a deep thinking poet.... but hey! I never judge a book by it's cover and this is marvelous work you've posted here.....I really enjoyed the read!

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.

ethome, Thank you very much for your kind reply. This poem was one of those that you say where did this come from, it actually felt like I was being a transmitter for someone far more talented than I. Once again thanks a bunch for reading.

Have I missed something? Have you been around, and I just haven't noticed? If so, then SHAME on me. I miss your work. Glad to read it here!
