A Sad Face at The Window |

You look at me with those sad, dark eyes As I move closer to the store You see me in the distance Am I the one you're waiting for? How long you must have been here So many faces come and go But which one of us would buy you? How would you ever know? My body shakes and quivers And my tail begins to wag How excited I am to see you "Is that food I smell in your bag?" Surrounded by shredded paper Without even a mate to play A sad rubber toy with holes abound How I'd love to dig in some fertile ground Those kittens next door they just cry all day Waiting for someone to take them away All around these four boring walls I roam "Don't you want to take me home?" How happy am I as I watch with glee You and the shop lady walk towards me Is that a key in her hand? Will I finally be set free? To a nice loving home? That's the place for me! As I smother you with kisses Oh, what joy - I'm free at last! I want to see my brand new home Please, take me there real fast Where I can smell the flowers Chase a bee or take a nap Even roll around the fresh cut grass Maybe chase the neighbour's cat How fondly I'll remember That very special day When you walked into my life And took me gladly away Suetang |

I enjoyed this. I'm sure you've expressed many of the feelings a dog has when he's waiting for someone to take him home and love him. Betty Lou Hebert |

Couldn't help but think of an old song, "How much is that doggie in the window?" I'm showing my age, I know. You're able to write about almost anything and this great read really shows it Sue. A marvelous read. Kate Blessings always Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood. |

Suetang, We had to give up all pets when we started to travel. It wouldn't be fair to the animal to live like this. I still "feel" those sad eyes. This is good work. Hugs, ME |

With this writing, you've accomplished something very important: assuming a third person's voice in writing. Advanced skill, that, and so very welcome to this reader. My ear heard music. "I am not now that which I have been." |
