Bouquet Canyon

Thundering roar echoing in the wind
Between walls of jasper kissing the sky
As a curtain of jeweled droplets descend
Cooling the rays of warmth they humbly defy

Cherry blossoms line the wakening slopes
Serving up breakfast to the oriole's taste
A red-tail circles below clouds of shadowed hopes
Searching out the jack rabbit entering the day in haste

Branches of pine scent the morning air
As dew drops slide the length to their fall
A ground squirrel gazes out in a wary stare
Scanning the horizon of activity against nature's wall

Lizards scurry between the shadows at play
Butterflies dance along with springtime's breeze
The truth of life is birthed within this day
As Bouquet Canyon wakes to set my mind at ease

Mark is still off line due to his recent move,
but he couldnt resist the nature challenge
and wanted to use this post as a opportunity
to say hello to all his very much missed
fellow poets and friends at Passions.
I read him your poems on the phone
and try and keep him caught up in here
till he can come back.
I will make sure he hears all your replies
and post his thanks for him.

I have found in you ... a reflection of me ...
and a path to the peace I have sought.

Mark you have taken us to a wonderful canyon. Thank you! We go to ND for the month of Oct. and I get to just sit in the Bad Land canyons sometimes. Another thing I like to do is listen to the wind blow through the grass. It is heaven on earth. Just like you saw. Hope all is well there and hugs, ME

Hey Mark, nice to read your poem, and hope the move is going well.
Having lived in San Diego, I always thought the canyons were the ugliest things, full of dirt and old brown grass..this has given me a whole new picture to replace that one. Thanks

Joyce .. thank you very much and welcome to Passions. I look forward to reading your poetry when I am able to come back.

Trillium ... thank you very much for the read and welcome to you also, and yes it is just as pretty as its name.

Elizabeth ... thank you very much and I hope I did it as much justice as it deserves.

Martie ... yes it is the same Bouquet Canyon that you think it is...as I lived 45 minutes from it for 18 years so I got to know it quite well. thank you very much my sweet friend..I miss you but I will be back.

Balladeer .. thank you very much .. it is definatly one of those places that seems like heaven on earth.

KoKo .. thank you very much and Im so pleased you enjoyed this...I will be back as soon as I possibly can.

Sy .. thank you very much ... Im so glad you enjoyed.

Virginia ... thank you very much for the compliments and I hope to be back soon.

Melissa .. thank you so much and I wish I could claim it as my canyon but it is simply one that I happened on.

suthern ... if you were to scare any critters away it would only be from the radiance
of your glow, however cowboy is one critter that comes complete with way cool shades, so beware. thank you very much my friend for your kind words.
its nice to be missed.

jellybeans ... trust me, when you live in Houston scaring critters is about the safest entertainment you can have.LOL thank you very much Im so glad you enjoyed this.

Keth .. naturally I am elated you found it wonderful, thank you much.

M.E. ... thank you so much and I will be looking for your poem about your canyon.
yes, that is a personal challenge.. thank you also for the hug.

Snowpants ... thank you very much and its nice to see you are continuing to work on your rhyme and imagery as well. Yes, Janet reads them to me.

Holly ... well of course we both know that the "BoHo" stands for Butterflies only h**g 'ombre, but dont worry I wont tell if you dont
Thank you so very much for such a wonderful reply even if it does come with a little bit of JM's influence and of course we both know that she will be getting her spanking later. Hugs and love and dont forget DONT TALK IN YOUR SLEEP.

Kit ... i miss you too and if I was able to give you a breath of fresh air then I am very happy as all of your wonderful responses to my challenges have filled my lungs with many time. thank you so much and since I know you will come back and read this
heres your challenge....take the line from Mother Earths reply ...
"listen to the wind blow through the grass." and write a 6 verse poem minimum with this line being the first line of each verse. Oh did I mention that it has to be a rhyming poem about day at the zoo. Have fun...I know you can do it

many thanks to JM for not only posting my poem for me but for taking the time to read me all the replies and post my thank yous for me. I love you my friend, now quit getting Holly all worked up and into trouble,
we would not want to tarnish her wings.

Ok cowboy .. mind if I speak for myself now
you know I loved the cool imagery and the unique perspective you always write your nature scenes with..
there are some really creative and cool images and lines in this...
and even more impressive to me is that you wrote it in less than 10 mins on the phone.
your way too good at this...
and now you see how missed you are..
both your special brand of poetry and your friendship given thru your replies.
and this is where I get to say TOLD YOU SO

oh you speak to me in riddles
and you speak to me in rhymes
my body aches to breathe your breath
your words keep me alive

Janet and well he shouldn't have missed it with such a beautiful poem as this. It's a marvelous render of the wonderful experiences of the new day and all the scenes are magic! I have to say to Mark well done my friend! This is once again such wonderfully crafted poetry!

"Branches of pine scent the morning air
As dew drops slide the length to their fall
A ground squirrel gazes out in a wary stare
Scanning the horizon of activity against nature's wall

Lizards scurry between the shadows at play
Butterflies dance along with springtime's breeze
The truth of life is birthed within this day
As Bouquet Canyon wakes to set my mind at ease"

I really love the appreciation for life expressed here......and thanks to you Janet for bringing this to us from Mark.....and to Mark...hurry back buddy you're missed!

Sometimes it seems as though there isn't much to be grateful for when the werk monster gets all demanding and leaves no time for poem-reading... but then I finally get a free moment and start "inhaling the poetry" again... and as I read, I come upon gems that stayed with my memory cells and lifted my spirits even when a nasty assignment was being changed for the umpteenth time... And though I WON'T waste any time thanking that werk monster, I definitely appreciate the opportunity to visit such a wonderful place again through your words. *S* The respite is wonderful. *S*

And a re-visit gives me the opportunity to thank Janet Marie for posting this treasure in your absence... *G* Thank you, JM... Now hurry back, cowboy! *S*
