When is Spring? When is spring? are you sure it’s not today? For I feel light, as if snow had melted from my attitude. Is spring when the morning sings in the open window, or is it when April rains down a watery key that unlocks the tulip? It must be the nasturtium, the one that let loose so easily last fall, its pungent ending filling me with sadness. I know it has been growing for many days for it fills the beds and climbs again into the rose bush, but, in this morning’s magenta sky, I finally saw it and peaked inside its green open leaf to the jewel of perfect sky reflection, minute and sparkling, and suddenly it was spring. When is spring? I think that spring is not a time, it is in the way we see, so for me, today it must be spring. |

" What a beautiful perspective Martie! I agree with the end too, it's how we see it even though it's going to affect all of us.......full rich images in this one.... you go to the head of the class! The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |
