The Absence of Light

The crust of darkness seeps into the earth
As the sun god RA claims his royal throne
The mighty torch since eons of our birth
Is dimmed by the minions of a sacred home

Purity the gift of a kind and giving god
Abundance the wealth, once never in doubt.
Forsaken is the life, greed has lain to rot
The garden of the light, ignore its silent shout

Time rushes to prepare the royal wake,
As the tears of the gods, gather on this night,
Prayers from the heavens, as our air dissolves to space
A God shines no more, in this absence of life.

James Parker Haley Mar 7, 2001

very very cool poem p-man,
dramatic and powerful imagery and message
superb cadence...
made even cooler that its inspired by anothers poem ...
the gift of this special place.
impressive as always gifted poet of cause
wont be long till Earth Day
(tho the message needs to be realized daily)

Your imagery here is impeccable. I always love your Sonnets, but I must admit I have a soft spot for your writings which show such wisdom. Makes me want to dance to honour an early Earth Day.
